#GivingTuesdayBucks a Success

IQnection was pleased to help more than 80 local charities raise funds through the 2013 #GivingTuesdayBucks campaign. As an official partner, IQnection donated the web design and hosting services for www.givingtuesdaybucks.org, which served as a hub for the 2013 campaign. IQnection was honored to join all the participating charities to encourage giving in our community.

Scheduled for the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving, which was December 3 in 2013, #GivingTuesday is a national day of charity with a local focus. This year’s effort marks the first celebration in Bucks County. Using the hashtag #GivingTuesdayBucks, this year’s campaign harnessed the power of social media to foster a sense of community and to promote the spirit of giving throughout the region. After making a gift, users were encouraged to share news of their donation across social media, bringing this message of charity to their friends and family.

The #GivingTuesdayBucks website made it easy for potential donors to find a charity with a mission that matched their values. From the website, users were sent to their chosen charity’s online giving page, where they could easily donate and share the good news. From the launch of www.givingtuesdaybucks.org in mid-October through December 3, there were almost 3,200 unique visitors to the site, with 799 visitors to the site on December 3 alone. With 52 of the 83 nonprofits reporting their results, more than $38,600 in donations were received through more than 360 gifts.

This groundswell of charity did not go unnoticed. #GivingTuesdayBucks received national attention, including a mention in the White House Blog and the United Nations recap of Giving Tuesday.

Planning for the 2014 #GivingTuesdayBucks campaign is already underway.
